Boise, Idaho. Our new, most favorite place in the US. Sorry Lake Tahoe... this place has so much more to offer.
Shannon and I vacationed in Boise (pronounced "boy-see" by the natives)over the May 5th weekend. We flew out Thursday night and left Sunday afternoon. Each night we fought going to sleep too early, and made ourselves get-up at 6:30 to start our fun-filled days.

Day 1 - outside our hotel. There are 300 days of sunshine in this small town. We consumed 3 of them.

This is a typical view from the roads. Mountains in view against a brilliant blue sky.

Here we are at Bittercreek Alehouse early on Friday night.
|

After a tasty beverage at Bittercreek, we headed out into the Boise streets to check out the sites. Even though we never ate here... I wanted to get a picture of us out and about.

Here is the grand Boise Capitol.

Shannon decided to catch a picture of me all happy after my microbrew.

Day 2 - Saturday morning, we woke up at 6:30 to start our day. Unbeknownst to Shannon, I had pre-arranged a half-day excursion doing one of our most favorite pastimes in one of our most favorite airplanes - flying in the C-180. As if that couldn't be enough to make us blissfully happy - we were going to flying up into the mountains to a place called Stanley, ID - a tiny little mountain town with a little grass strip in the wilderness. This is our ride. Shannon having found out about this scenic ride about 30 minutes prior.

Here is our seasoned pilot and mountain guide (not to mention wildlife guru), Gene Mussler. He was not only friendly and easy-going... he knew these mountains well, and it showed.
Gene has been flying in the Idaho mountains since 1990 and also has a C-206. He had a great safety record and very reasonable rates. If you are in the Boise-area, we HIGHLY recommend his services. Sawtooth Flying Service, 208-342-7888. The flying here is like no other that we've experienced. In a few more pictures... you'll know exactly why.

Kandi and Shannon - right before we strap in.
