After trimming, the elevators move freely.

Shannon takes the control horns and checks for clearance. By the way... getting the bolts in to attach the elevators is a real pain. After several tries we discovered that you probably have to ream the hinge out for the bolt to fit easily through. The powder-coating that Van's puts on them makes it a little too snug. Then we wrapped each bolt in safety wire (supporting the bolt on the top so you can push it through) and get the bolt started through, then pull it out. Since the safety wire is soft, it unravels fairly easy. We know they sell a tool for this, but we didn't have it and we were anxious to see the pieces together.

Then I try my hand at moving the elevators. Very exciting!

Wouldn't that be crazy... we'd be turning like crazy in this configuration!

And so we cannot contain our excitement. We retrieve our other parts from the house and set-up the verticle and rudder.

Now THIS is exciting!!! The whole tail together!

I'm wicked excited too. Let's strap an engine to it and go flyin'!
